Digital Citizenship Lesson 1 - Staying Safe Story
|
As a review, start by watching "My Online Neighborhood" video from Going Places Safely, a lesson plan from Common Sense Media. Then we will read the "Staying Safe Story" which reiterates some of the same concepts, but also covers elements of the ACDS Media Agreement under "think first" and "stay balanced".

ACDS Media Agreement
The ACDS Media Agreement should be reiterated in the classroom by classroom teacher and sent home for parent signature.

iPad Rollout Lesson 1 - Explore the iPad
- September
- Taught in the classroom
- Taught by the Integration Specialist
How is this iPad different than your own iPad or one from home?
The school iPad is a classroom tool with apps that will help students create and share work for their classes. The school iPad has apps carefully chosen by teachers which you will be used for school projects. There may be apps that some students have already used, but other students have not, so we'll still have to explore them together. We may use the same app a different way. |

Guided Discovery
Handout iPads and ask students to identify the different parts. Put a photo up of an iPad and label them as students identify functions. Put a question mark next to anything they can't identify. Ask if there is anything that was mentioned students would like to know more about. Use this information to determine any future iPad Rollout lessons.
