Overview
Technology is fully integrated into the Fourth Grade curriculum and is used in a variety of ways. Fourth grade students are able to really start benefiting from the use of technology in their class work and will start tackling more advanced projects. They will continue to work on their keyboarding skills. They will be introduced to a variety of applications and tools, feel comfortable moving from one application to another and learning new ones, and begin understanding how to choose the right one for a given situation. They will learn how to use technology to further their own learning. They will continue to learn how to locate, interpret and use information. They will learn how to communicate effectively.
Objectives
- Use a computer responsibly
- Recognize and understand the basic components of the computer and how they are used
- Reinforce the concept of storage, the file system, networks, and the Internet
- How to start applications and use the file system structure to store their files (Windows Explorer or Google Drive)
- What type of applications and tools are available and how to choose the appropriate one for a given situation
- Keyboarding - using the proper fingering for alphabetic keys and punctuation
- Use a computer to locate, interpret, and use information
- Use a computer to manipulate information to provide meaning
- Create information using a computer
- Gain computer skills
