Overview
Technology is fully integrated into the First Grade curriculum and is used in a variety of ways. In First Grade we will be reinforcing and then extending many of the skills learned in Kindergarten. The most important thing at this age is that students are comfortable and enjoy working on the computer. All lessons take into account that first graders are at varied levels of reading and writing and none are proficient at keyboarding. The goal is to introduce students to concepts using simple age appropriate applications (e.g. word processing, presentations, drawing, etc.) that then become building blocks to standard applications used by older students and adults such as Google Docs or Microsoft Office. Tech activities in First Grade promotes learning, curiosity and exploration. Student generated work will reinforce knowledge and demonstrate their understanding and promote creativity.
