Infograph Tools
I haven't found a good infographics iPad app. There are two web apps we should consider using for this project. The students can use the Chromebooks. I would recommend you take a look at each and see what you think. A good way to decide is to look at the free templates and examples of published infographics.
PiktoChart - This is the app I used to create the two infographic examples - Alexandria Food Needs and The Great Wall of China. I thought this app was intuitive and easy to use and produced a professional looking infographic. Each section is a separate block. It was easy to add and delete blocks. There were lots of elements such as icons and images to chose from. And it was easy to add your own images.
Easel.ly - I have read good reviews about this app. One teacher wrote that she gave no instructions on how to use the app and her students were able to figure it out. It looks pretty straight forward. I'm leaning towards using Easel.ly based on the variety of topics available to the students for this project.
Logistics
Once we decide on an app, I recommend we create an infographic together using the Chromebooks. Then we can make sure we both know how the app works and that it will work for this project. I have an idea for one called "Greek Girl Power - A Paradox".
I will also need to figure out how the students will register for an account. I think all they will need to supply is an email address and password. I recommend giving the students at least one class for guided discovery of the Infographics tool. This is a time for them to have free exploration of the tool to try different templates and features. It might also be good to let them look at the infographic templates and examples while they are doing research, so they can think about what information they will might need. |

Here are some things that you might consider explicitly including as requirements (some of the information comes directly from this source):

Rubric
Here are some different ideas that can be included in a rubric. We can make our own and then post it here.
