Projecting your iPad using a Projector
Here are step-by-step instructions on how to project from your iPad in a classroom. This is what a typical setup looks like:
STEP 1
Turn on the projector. If you can reach, you can press the "on" button directly on the projector or you can use the remote control. NOTE: The status light will blink green or blue and then stay on when it is fully "on". |
STEP 2
Use the Apple TV remote and turn on Apple TV. You can click on any button on the Apple TV remote. A white light will turn "on" when the Apple TV box is powered up. NOTE: The Apple TV box is the small black box sitting on top of your projector which is hanging down from the ceiling. |
You should see something like this on the projector.
If you don't, click on "source search" on the Epson projector remote.
|
STEP 5
Turn on mirroring. Now your iPad screen should be projected on the screen. NOTE: You can tap anywhere on your iPad to close the menu.
|
When You are Finished
When you are done projecting from the iPad, swipe up on your again and select "iPad" to unpair your iPad from Apple TV. NOTE: You can tap anywhere on your iPad to close the menu. The Apple TV will automatically go into "sleep mode" on it's own. You should turn the projector off, if you are finished using it.

Troubleshooting Tips
- If you've lost your connection to the Apple TV, check your network connection on your iPad.
- If you haven't used your Apple TV in a while, consider rebooting it. Use your Apple TV remote to bring up the Apple TV menu then go to Settings> General> Restart. Click here for more helpful tips.
- It is helpful to have the Apple TV on the same Wifi as the iPad. Ask the tech team for help to assure this is the case. Click here for help on with WiFi networks and Apple TV.
- Warning: When turning on the Apple TV, it may ask to install updates. These can take a really long time to install, so depending on how much time you have, it might be better to say "no" and then go back to it after your lesson. Note: If you decide to install updates at a later time, use your Apple TV remote to bring up the Apple TV menu, then go to Settings> General> Update Software; if one is available, a download message should appear. Click Download and Install to start the download process. Do not disconnect your Apple TV during the update process. The Apple TV status light may flash slowly during the update and restart process. This is expected behavior.
