Overview
Technology is fully integrated into the Third Grade curriculum. Third grade students are reading and writing well and are able to work more independently. This is the year they formally focus on keyboarding skills. They will use standard applications such as Microsoft Office and Google Docs to tackle more advanced technology projects. They will be introduced to a variety of applications. Students should feel comfortable moving from one application to another and learning new ones.
Objectives
- Use a computer responsibly
- Recognize and understand the basic components of the computer and how they are used
- Learn some basic computer skills such as how to work with fonts, move text around, different ways to add images, working with spreadsheets (adding and subtracting, sorting, and graphing), etc.
- Keyboarding - using the proper fingering for alphabetic keys and punctuation
- Use a computer to locate, interpret, and use information
- Use a computer to learn
- Use the computer as a tool to create student-generated work
- Reinforce grade level curriculum and skills
- Programming - logic, programming concepts, write programs
